Grant: Special Education--National Activities--Technology and Media Services (CFDA #: 84.327F-01)
The purpose of this program is to: (1) improve results for children with disabilities by promoting the development, demonstration, and use of technology; (2) support educational media services activities designed to be of value in the classroom setting to children with disabilities; and (3) provide support for captioning and video description that is appropriate for use in the classroom setting.

Grant: Charter Schools Program (CFDA #: 84.282)
This program provides financial assistance for the planning, program design, and initial implementation of charter schools, and the dissemination of information on charter schools. Grants are available, on a competitive basis, to SEAs in states that have charter school laws; SEAs in turn make subgrants to developers of charter schools who have applied for a charter. If an eligible SEA elects not to participate or if its application for funding is not approved, the Department can make grants directly to charter school developers.

The Director of the Institute of Education Sciences (Institute) announces the Institute¡¯s FY 2009 competitions for grants to support education research and special education research. The Director takes this action under the Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002, title I of Public Law 107-279. The intent of these grants is to provide national leadership in expanding fundamental knowledge and understanding of education from early childhood education through postsecondary and adult education.

The Weed and Seed strategy aims to prevent, control, and reduce violent crime, criminal drug related activity, and gang activity. The Weed and Seed strategy is a community-based, comprehensive multi-agency approach. Four elements make up the two-pronged Weed and Seed Strategy: Law Enforcement; Community Policing; Prevention, Intervention, and Treatment; and Neighborhood Restoration. Limited discretionary grant resources are available annually for communities selected as Weed and Seed Communities subject to Congressional funding and level of grantee performance.

One of the functions of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) Division of Unaccompanied Children's Services (DUCS) is to provide temporary shelter care and other related services to children in ORR custody. Shelter care services will be provided for the period beginning when DUCS accepts the child for placement and custody and ending when the child is released from custody, a final disposition of the child's immigration case results in removal of the child from the United States, or the child turns 18 years of age.
